I've seen this method used before, but I'll never understand how anyone could succeed in hanging himself while on his knees. It would be so easy, when the panic sets in, to raise oneself up and release the pressure. That luxury is usually not an option when fully suspended in the air. I suppose a firm determination to die is helpful.
