Hi, y'all. I'm a new member here. I feel so welcomed after reading the initial acceptance message from Meatpie. I look forward to getting to know this community better. About me - I'm from the US, in my mid 20's, lived all around the world, but born and raised in California, and even though it's probably not that interesting and probably a bit pretentious sounding, here's how I ended up joining this community:
Over the last few months, a few friends have commented on the style of my furniture as it's progression clearly has been displaying a theme that clearly glorifies the macabre, which makes sense since the theme has mainly been a mixture of a "nature vs. industry" (i.e. the oversized canvas copy of a Banksy panda bear with two handguns) ,and "abundance" via excessively ornate baroque accessories in a memento mori theme (i.e. the black resin goats head with the gold horns above a grouping of black polished plates with one of the seven deadly sins printed in ornate script). Nothing about my designs are necessarily goth or anything like that, it's a more ironic glam rock meets the occult and taboo I guess. Obviously I've been expressing my darker side creatively during my efforts with decorating my new house while I renovate it, and when no one has been looking, and during the rest of my free time, I've been on-line searching for inspiration for my ongoing projects while exploring topics classified under "everything else" in the world that no one talks about. For some reason, I can't help but be fascinated with snuff or torture drawings like the works of Tagame, and the like. I've always had an interest in the more taboo side of sexuality and reality, but clearly I haven't been exploring it as much as I probably should, otherwise it wouldn't keep coming out so prominantly dominating every group of installations I keep putting up all over my house. I wonder when people will start saying it's obscene... One of my friends has said that a lot of it seems like it can be classified as dark humor with clear sexual references with violent connotations (more specifically said in reference to my Any Warhol framed prints of guns, accented with these handmade porcelain fish seemingly swimming out from the barrel of the large gun toward a doorway... which has been interpreted as a violent grouping of dicks shooting sperm at an opening)...
So... here I am. Hi.
