I wonder how long it takes for the body to fully shut down after death. I go to the Local Coroners office every other week but last week a fresh body came in. She was a young female in here early 30's the strangest thing happen, I heard a noise which sounded like stomach growling, oh yeah btw this woman had been dead for about 2 hours give or take with a gunshot wound to her head. So when I heard the sound it shocked the shit out of me, so I place my hand on her cold belly and felt rumbling, so I called over the coroner that was mentoring me and we check to she if she was still alive, but no heartbeat, but her belly was active, I thought to myself it couldn't had been gases, because gases don't start to build up until after a few days of decomp. So I was wondering how long does it take for the body to fully stop functioning? because here guts were obviously still working and digesting or what not.
