45-year-old suspected shoplifter Berlin Patiño was found summarily executed with gunshots on August 16, 2017 in Brgy. Rosario, Matag-do, Leyte, Philippines.

MATAG-OB LEYTE 'SALVAGE' VICTIM IDENTIFIED

Tacloban City- An alleged summary execution victim found in Brgy. Rosario Matag-ob Leyte last August 16 in the morning is now identified.
The cadaver was positively identified by her relatives as Berlin Patiño, 45 years old, a native of Cotabato City and temporarily residing in Brgy. Paseo de Legaspi Tacloban City.
Her relatives,Teodulfo and Elena Dacoba, said they heard a report of an unidentified cadaver of a woman found in Matag-ob Leyte that prompted them to confirm the latter and went to Matag-ob MPS for assistance
They claimed they last saw Patiño on Friday, five days before she was found in a road side canal. Her face was wrapped with packaging tape, and her hands and feet were also tied up with tapes.
Matag-ob MPS chief , PC/Insp. Adelino Pulga, said they are still conducting in-depth investigation for the possible motive of the crime and disclosed that the the victim was allegedly involved in a shoplifting in Ormoc City.
Meanwhile, PNP data shows four summary execution incidents transpired in the region within this month alone.
The victims sustained gunshot wounds and all are of the same disposition.

August 16. 2017, 10:00 am- a cadaver of a female was found in Brgy. Rosario Matag-ob Leyte (identified as Berlin Patiño)
