Natalia Lafourcade - Nunca Es Suficiente (Austin City Limits)

Haunting melody

I didn't often get into Punk Rock, but every so often it had a certain something - and since a vid I posted last week put me in mind of this, it's been going round in my head.

I believe all that I read now
Night has come off the corners
Shadows flicker sweet and tame
Dancing like crazy mourners

The man with the hotdog sells lemonade
Someone over there needs first aid
While me and the rest of the world
Await the touch of the motorcade

No one finds time to turn a blind eye
You can't be too careful nowadays
And my friend says "Listen
To the stupid things they're making you say"

Here comes the motorcade
Moving so slow and hard
Like a snake in a closet
Holding the sway in the boulevard

Here is your man
All faces turn unanimously
The small fry who sizzle in his veins
In all security

Here is your man
All faces turn unanimously
The small fry who sizzle in his veins
In all security

In the back of his car
Into the null and void he shoots
The man at the centre of the motorcade
Has learnt to tie his boots

In the back of his car
In the null and void he sees
The man at the centre of the motorcade
Can choose between coffee and tea
In the boulevard, the motorcade holds sway
In the boulevard, the motorcade holds sway
In the boulevard, the motorcade holds sway
In the boulevard, the motorcade holds sway

And for something slightly less nihilistic with some wild flute-playing:

In the shuffling madness
Of the locomotive breath
Runs the all time loser
Headlong to his death

He feels the pistons scraping
Steam breaking on his brow
Old Charlie stole the handle and
The train it won't stop going
No way to slow down

He sees his children jumping off
At the stations one by one
His woman and his best friend
In bed and having fun

He's crawling down the corridor
On his hands and knees
Old Charlie stole the handle and
The train it won't stop going
No way to slow down, yeah

He hears the silence howling
Catches angels as they fall
And the all time winner
Has got him by the balls

He picks up Gideons Bible
Open at page one
God He stole the handle and
The train won't stop going
No way to slow down

Hmm, that's an interesting translation of Genesis Chapter 1!

And the classic Tull track - Aqualung. Metal, you like?

Getting back into the Pink Floyd albums I loved as a student and I spotted this - Pinkk Floyd meets heavy metal!

I was standing by the Nile
When I saw the lady smile
I would take her for a while
For a while

Like tears wept like a child
How her golden hair was blowing wild
Then she spread her wings to fly
For to fly

Soaring high above the breezes
Going always where she pleases
She will make it to the island
In the sun

I will follow in her shadow
And I'll watch her from my window
One day I will catch her

She is calling from the deep
Summoning my soul to endless sleep
She is bound to drag me down
Drag me down

Thanks Phyzz.

And one of my all-time favourites - less challenging than Pink Floyd and 26 minutes of relaxing positive music. To me this is a musical picture of the Herefordshire countryside (Herefordshire is a pastoral, green and hilly English county on the Welsh border).

Yes DD, Herefordshire sounds pastoral, green, hilly and beautiful......
As for Tubular Bells, it's great music, but it scares the shit out of me; still thinking about 'The Exorcist'

:)I didn't see The Exorcist, so it is uncontaminated for me thank God :)

Really like Mexicano Musica

'Bridge Over Troubled Water' For NHS - in English and Welsh.

And the lyrics in Welsh - couldn't find the official version, so this is what Google Translate makes of it. I'm sure Meatpie will forgive my one-off deviation from English :I am sorry:

Pan rydych chi'n flinedig, yn teimlo'n fach
Pan fydd dagrau yn eich llygaid, byddaf yn eu sychu i gyd, I gyd
Rydw i ar eich ochr chi, o, pan fydd amseroedd yn mynd yn arw
Ac ni ellir dod o hyd i ffrindiau
Fel pont dros ddŵr cythryblus
Byddaf yn fy ngosod i lawr
Fel pont dros ddŵr cythryblus
Byddaf yn fy ngosod i lawr

Pan fyddwch chi i lawr ac allan
Pan fyddwch chi ar y stryd
Pan fydd gyda'r nos yn cwympo mor galed
Byddaf yn eich cysuro
Cymeraf eich rhan, o, pan ddaw tywyllwch
Ac mae poen o gwmpas
Fel pont dros ddŵr cythryblus
Byddaf yn fy ngosod i lawr
Fel pont dros ddŵr cythryblus
Byddaf yn fy ngosod i lawr

Hwylio ar ferch arian
Hwylio ymlaen gan
Mae eich amser wedi dod i ddisgleirio
Mae'ch holl freuddwydion ar eu ffordd
Gweld sut maen nhw'n disgleirio
O, os oes angen ffrind arnoch chi
Rwy'n hwylio y tu ôl
Fel pont dros ddŵr cythryblus
Byddaf yn lleddfu'ch meddwl
Fel pont dros ddŵr cythryblus
Byddaf yn lleddfu'ch meddwl

And for an Andean change of tone:

Incantation was a British band, put together in 1981 to play a ballet called "Ghost Dances" based on the music of a South American band called Inti Illimani - ballet isn't normally my thing at all but I saw that on TV and it had me rivetted. I can't find that performance on YouTube, but here's part of a more recent one

And now for something completely diferent - Meatpie and Phyzz just introduced me to 2Cellos.
