A 21-year-old woman who refused to marry her cousin was reportedly shot dead at a wedding.

The woman’s father, named as Ghazi H, posted an image on Facebook of his daughter lying in a pool of blood.

The 50-year-old wrote: “It is with the deepest sense of loss and pain that I announced the loss of my daughter.

“She died in a pool of her own blood, as a victim of a treacherous trail and tradition.”

The Kurdish father explained that his daughter Shilan was shot dead during a wedding ceremony in Hanover, Germany after she refused an arranged marriage to her 22-year-old cousin Sefin.

Police now have a warrant out for Sefin's arrest.

"She died in a pool of her own blood, as a victim of a treacherous trail and tradition.”
Ghazi wrote that his Kurdish family had fled Iraq for Germany when Shilan was three, and had lived there ever since.

He described her as a ‘self-confident young woman’ who was studying property management at college.

Ghazi explained that he’d left his brother looking after his family when he went to Iraq for work.

He found out that his brother had suggested Shilan marry Sefin, but when he returned his daughter became unhappy with the arrangement and ‘begged him to do something.’

He cancelled the engagement but his daughter was shot dead on March 13 at 10pm.
