Hot just discharged military man dies in motorcycle chase

Dashcam video, more information released about fatal motorcycle accident

More information, including a dashcam video, has been released about the fatal motorcycle accident that took place early Saturday morning.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol a motorcyclist was killed in an accident while being chased by Horry County Police officers.

The accident took place around 1 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 501 near Broadway Street when 21-year-old Alexander M. Savage lost control of his motorcycle after reaching speeds of more than 100 miles per hour during the chase, according to the video.

Sgt. Robert Kegler, the Horry County Police Department spokesman, said police had received a notification to be on the lookout for an intoxicated motorcyclist who had just crashed outside The Gold Club in Myrtle Beach.

Kegler said police saw a motorcycle matching the description given and it was stopped on the crest of the Waccamaw Pottery Bridge.

Kegler said Savage, who was operating the motorcycle, stopped while on the bridge and then started moving again.

Kegler indicated that officers at first thought Savage was moving to the end of the bridge so that there would be more room and a safer traffic stop could take place.

But Savage did not stop at the end of the bridge and officers pursued him until he crashed near Broadway Street in Myrtle Beach, Kegler said.

Right before the crash an officer can be heard in the video saying that speeds of around 100 miles per hour were reached.

Highway Patrol will be investigating the crash itself and Kegler said the details of what role Horry County police will play are still being worked out.

This is from yesterday a 25 yo skidded on a wet road, fell of his bike and croaked at the scene.

No helmet.



A candle was lit near the body but the dead dude's friends.

The body of the young man has been taken for an autopsy examination.

A catch of the day

John's cute, but this one's good, too. A 22 year old on a Ducati crashed died at the scene. I amy go for debris hunting.

I did visit the accident site today. Pretty much everything was gone off course, but there was some debris. I also collected something looking like helmet liner or a part of his knee padding. More on this at my group.
