I guess more than 70% of the pictures of dead guys from Brazil come from the Northeastern region which is the poorest region from the country, I live in the Southern region, so here were I live we don't have many cases of homicides and etc. Brazil is a very heterogeneous country (you can just compare the HDI from different states from different regions and see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/States_of_Brazil)
