Smiling killer is led to the waiting noose, then starts crying as the noose is placed around his neck. He is then hanged as dawn breaks, in public.

The killer hangs to death, and is then placed in a body bag, still on the noose, then cut down and his body thrown into an ambulance. The hanging took place at dawn on 20th September 2011.

Apparently, there are several more public hangings due to take place in Iran within the next week, so stand by for more pix and videos.

I know he killed someone, but it saddens me nonetheless to see someone so frightened and alone. I'm guessing that, even though he had to endure a death by strangling, it was over for him within five minutes (which must seem like forever when you can't breathe).

aint supposed to be pleasant for the condemned, and he wasnt alone, he had a nice audience to watch him swing.

Please note this set is of the execution of a killer in his late 20s: it is not the same execution as another which took place today of a much younger victim.

News reports are that in public an 18 year old has been hanged. He was condemned for killing Iran's strongest man. Couldn't find any pics yet.

A link to public domain documentary photos of that other hanging is on the Hanging thread, sfropeboy. I've not shared pictures here because it's thought by human rights groups that he was actually 17, and people of that age should not suffer such a fate. Certainly he was 17 when he committed the crime. He was hanged this morning at dawn.

That was my impression too. With pressure on the carotids, the heart can be stopped instantly. I suspect this probably happened for him.

That would explain why there is no color change between his head, neck, hands and feet.
