Amazing, I admit that I thought baklava was only popular in Eastern Europe, Turkey and parts of Asia.

I made delicious pita pizzas but they are very fattening so I avoid it. Wow Rick, if one day we manage to meet in real life I think we will make awesome cooks.

Greek guys have it in their blood I guess.

Most American's can't cook and buy fast food.

A few years ago I had a boyfriend Alexander and we were both students, basically not a lot of money so I would cook cheap meals at home and invite him over.

He loved it, and was so sweet when he pigged himself with my dinner.

I had to work long hours until basically midnight, it was dark winter and I took the last metro train only to find him snooring in my bed. He was tall and hairy and at night I would play with his feet while he was in a coma.

I just ate a delicious Chimi just like this one!

Chimi is such a sweet name for what basically most people would call a hamburger, is that correct?

What do they put in a typical chimi?

oh god that looks good!
i would make you one....now im craving one!

It's actually a recipe from our country, very similar to a hamburger, just that, these are normally made on a Van, poorly-made stands or miserable stands like this one..

Which means your health is in danger everytime you try a Chimi (It's a Burger you can only find on stands like that above or Vans, which, have nearly the same hygiene than this one does.. Not too long ago a Chimi got me sick with Ameba)

But still! Its taste is so good I would like you to try it, I'm sure you will all love it, and it'd take 15 or 20 minutes to make one. Here's how to make one:

You'll need:
>1 1/4 lbs ground beef chuck
>1 medium onion, finely chopped
>1/2 of a large red bell pepper, diced
>2 garlic cloves, minced
>1/3 cup chopped cilantro
>1 tsp dried oregano
>2 tsp soy sauce
>1 T worcestershire sauce
>salt and pepper shopping list
>4 good quality hamburger buns, split
>2 cups thinly sliced cabbage
>1 carrot, coarsely grated
>1 small red onion, cut into rings
>1 tomato, sliced 1/4 inch thick
>2 T ketchup
>2 T mayonnaise
>1 T yellow prepared mustard

How to make it:

>Mix together beef, onion, bell pepper, garlic, cilantro, oregano, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, a pinch of salt and pepper.

>Form into 4 patties.

>Heat a large griddle or 12-inch heavy skillet over medium heat until hot, then lightly toast buns.

>Oil griddle or pan, then cook patties, turning once, about 8 minutes total for medium rare.

>Transfer to buns.

>Mix together cabbage, carrot, and a pinch of salt. Then cook on same griddle turning occasionally, until slightly wilted, about 2 minutes. Divide among burgers.

>Oil griddle again, then sear onion and tomato, turning once, until slightly charred, about 2 minutes total. Divide among burgers.

>Stir together ketchup, mayo and mustard, then top burgers with sauce.

Then you'll be able to enjoy this

Oh wow, first time I've seen anything like this - a kebab prepared in the street on a shopping cart!

Is this common in the Dominican?

Thanks for the recipe, I'll definately try it!

And amoebae are harmless btw, I think it must have been something else.

Every corner have one of these stands, near my house there are about 2 Chimi stands, with a diference of 200 mts of distance each I'd say (Not as bad as the one shown in the pic, but not MUCH better, either)

Ameba: That's what we call it in Spanish, I'm unfamiliar to the English terms, but I think this is it (the Chimi causes it 'cause of vegetables not being properly washed, and normally when they are, is with no clean water, it's fucked up, but still, it's actually the #1 Burger over here, as bad as it looks, the taste is tremendously good, and of course, there are some serious locals that make them, but they're a few and expensive compared to the prize on the streets.)

(Sorry for double post, had to do some work and when I tried to edit it it wouldn't let me D:)

People joke around saying it's Dog Meat, having in mind the way they're done, and up until recently, there was one Chimi Stand on a neighbor not too far that sold these with Dog Meat (This is the only link I found <.< http://www.razine.com/community/lo-...nd%ED-chimi-con-carne-de-perro-erdiabloo.html)

You really need to leave if you have relatives in Spain.

Hahahah, it's not like I HAVE to eat from those places, either way! But no questions about it, Chimi is a great Burger! Try it out and you'll see :P [On that pic, he's selling CHimi AND Hotdog for 20 pesos (0.45 dollars), and normally a Chimi is worth 120 pesos, any opinion on that? XD]
