Movies make spies the most hateful of the enemy, yet they have no chance of surrender. Death is automatic. They have to be well educated in language, customs, and must maintain a self control. This poor german is about to lose his life-never having killed anyone. I have always felt sorry for him- he is terrified. To make him feel a little better, I'm letting him die in the uniform of his country. His boots are polished, and out of respect the men have polished up theirs. Like a true man, his last words were:I'm coming.

Spies have to be some of the most entertaining humans to torture and execute. Obviously, to be a spy they have to be pretty intellectual as well as deceptive and suave. The spy will use every mental tool at his disposal from trying to be your buddy to pleading ignorance and will attempt deception at every opportunity to stay alive. A torture session can be stretched out for days while you play brain games with the victim.

One of my favorite shooting fantasy scenarios involves the victim being a spy, caught red-handed at my dirty work. An old role play partner of mine (before he moved out of town) used to act out this scene with me. He'd slip into his darkened apartment and catch me in his office. He'd order me around and talk nasty to me at gunpoint for a bit -- one of my favorite parts of the scene as it added to the tension -- and then I'd make a break for the door, and he'd chase me down the hallway and shoot me in the back. Then, he'd roll and frisk my body roughly, then drag me by my ankles to the bathroom to strip-search me, then haul my body off to his bedroom to have his way.

he was a turn coat spy for the US. He was put into a POW camp, recognized, and killed by his fellow Germans- so that he could do no more spying. Another spy about to be executed. These spies had to go to university to learn English so well that no accent could be detected. I feel sorry for them having also been in the field of language learning. I wanted to put the boots on the victim, but had to settle for the executioner. Did you read R. Kipling's account of killing an enemy, who as he was suffering the mortal strick was biting hard into his killer's boot? This man is touching the executioner's boot and is getting a starnge effect.

The superbly booted man is himself a spy. He was a soldier for the crown and fought in Quebec. He helped General Howe with th capture of Philadelphia, and was liked by the ladies as well as some men. In fact, several men were weeping at his execution. He had convinced Benedict Arnold to turn over the plans of West Point. He was shocked to hear that he would most likely be hanged as was my hero, Nathan Hale. Like Nathan, he thought that a safe hiding place for the plans was in his boot. If I had captured him, the first thing I would do is to take off his boots. Can you imagine a gay soldier with a thing for boots? He's certainly not an American hero, but that doesn't mean he's not a hero. The poor boy (30 y.o.) will have to pay with his life.

Spies are without honour - they should be executed and buried naked in an unmarked grave.

My hero, Nathan Hale might well have been buried naked, an unmarked grave to be sure. Would you honor the man buried in this grave? He did a great service for his country. In war, it seems to me, it's fair to use any means to destroy the enemy.

If the British had turned over Arnold to Washington, John Andre would not have hanged.

Compton MacKenzie was a commissioned officer in the Royal Marines so deserved military burial rather than this simple grave on Barra. The gentleman spy / intelligence agent is in a league away from the common saboteur wearing enemy uniform who deserves swift justice.

"What are these men doing? Am I going to be violated, are they stealing my boots, are they looking for the plans? Dn't they know I am Major John Andre? What's going to become of me? We know- you're going to be hanged. My question is-What became of his boots?

Major John Andre was an aristocrat. HIs execution was symbolic of fairness and equal justice for all. The American principle which pervades our system. Spies were detested at this time. Nathan Hale was left hanging for three days and soldiers spat on his corpse. His brother sought in vain for his body. it was never found. I wonder if the British dumped it at sea. His story was generally unknown until E.E. Hale made the incident available to the public through his writings. Andre's execution was in retaliation for Nathan Hale's. I wonder if Nathan wanted to be hanged because of the birth mark on his neck and his youthful prediction of his hanging. Andre, on the other hand was shocked to think the same would happen to him.

Is it comforting to be excuted with your fellow soldiers? Must they be saying to themselves-I can not show fear-what will the others say. The soldier on the far right knows he's going to miss his buddies, while the other two are worried that the ropes will scratch their boots. After all, it's better with your boots on.

Not a very good spy. He couldn't master the accent. What's to be done with his body?
