Suppose the writer gets up one day to discover half the people on his street or subdivision are dead from nerve gas because it was known they favored "freedom of speech," and "uncensored press," and transparency by their government and the Government instead of believing its citizens were exercising their First Amendment rights felt threatened by these individuals. For several years the same government had in force something called The Patriot Act where any citizen deemed a threat by Homeland Security whoever in the hell that is, could kick the doors down on their houses and legally kidnap or make these individuals disappear, incarcerated at who only knows for whatever unspecified time with "no charges" and "no hearing" before a court or judge because something called habeas corpus, a legal concept which pre-dates the 17th century Magna Carta, is suspended by the Patriot Act based on some arbitrary view that the person or persons are "terrorist" in what was once the greatest and shiniest democracies in the world. And, the person discovering these dead bodies is not able to get news coverage or to post Twitter or FaceBook pictures of this slaughter because such images are gruesome and politically incorrect and that anyone attempting or wanting to do such must want to overthrow the government, is a terrorist, or even a traitor without first being charged or having a trial or else mentally ill and therefore from the government's viewpoint in need of institutionalization. And, anyone related to this person immediately losses their jobs, ability to earn money, flee the country, etc. because of their association with said individuals either by blood relationship or friendship. This person should be reminded that such "pictures" didn't start with Syria or in foreign, unheard of parts of the world, or even in Mexico, but have gradually within the past few decades started occurring in this person's own country and now, alas and alack, in their own very community. Terrible pictures. Disgusting. Sheer brutality. Definitely adult oriented unless you are one of those blown away, maimed or gassed who unfortunately happens to be under 18.
