Not sure is Japanese or not! A few budds have told me they think they are WW2 German dudes.

According to my records the 2 dead soldiers are German soldiers - killed by Russian soldiers. The location is Briansk in Russia and the date is 1941. This is an interesting pic posted by Arrow. The bayonets look German - the Russians would have taken their own with them. So these guys were stabbed with their own bayonets. The German army committed so many atrocities inside Russia, that Russian soldiers repaid in kind, and took few prisoners. German soldiers that surrendered, ran the risk of being mistreated and killed.

That's pretty hot Arrow -- German trooper knifed in the back thru the heart with their own bayonets. Their last minutes at the hands of the Russians must of been fraught with peril. They probably didn't know what to expect until they met their doom just before being tossed into that ditch.
