AH1N1 Pandemic

H1N1 is getting more serious here daily. Hundreds of cases have broken out across the state and a lot of colleges are talking about closing for the up coming winter. Strangely, not too many deaths are being reported but news here is highly edited. I have also had two friends come down with the flu and after going into the hospital, they have disappeared and no one know what has happened to them. I am sick myself but do not dare seeking help. Rumor is that people are being shipped off to FEMA camps but I really don't know. There are homeland security personnel starting to pop up in the strangest places. Does anyone have any information they can share?

Wow wrccruz, I have friends in Charlotte they said everything is under control.

There are many cases in Bulgaria too. I am certain I will get it too in winter.

Don't know what all the panic is about?, here in UK no one is realy all that bothered about it, in the begining the news channels over reacted about it ,less than a 100 people have died from it, but now no one even bothers to mention it much at all. I have had it along with 12 others in my home town, it was no big deal and no one in the town has died from it. there is still more chance of getting killed crossing the road.

The same goes for here, it was all a big fuss about nothing.

I am getting vaccinated for the virus.

More people die from the normal flu then from the H1N1 virus. What most people are afraid of is that so many people get sick, that society cannot function properly as it should.
Hospitals close due to personnel problems, shops close, government buildings close, electrical and waterworks shut down due to neglect in repairs and maintenance.

that is what most people fear, no that they die from it.

What if you catch it at the airports before October? Will it pose a serious threat to your health?

I will be more sick then normal, and longer, but there is a small chance I could croak from it.

But that us with every disease.

Is there a vaccine already?

There is a vaccine, but it's still going through safety tests, so not availalbe yet (at least in UK - I think that goes for most countries). And the first batches are only just coming through, so can't be enough for mass vaccination yet. Try not to catch it for another month or two!

I don't care whether I catch it or not, but I am worried about Enty.

He is take drugs that supress his immune system so if he gets infected he is at a higher risk of developing complications - like a bacterial infection like pneumonia.

I live in U.S,and have had it hit just miles from home. Though sence I`m not old,or ill or with other problems that can make it more fatal. I`m not real worried, it seems minor or the same to other influenza pandemics. hehe. I hasnt known someone personally that got it though.

That is very sweet Pieman of you to say, but my MD says that if I catch it, I will be sicker heavier and longer then normal people. But I have the same chances as everyone to croak from it should it arise.
I will be sick longer though (
Let us just see how it all develops. It has been hyped to epidemic proportions, although it is hardly in the news today...

Some bad news for those who have stockpiled tamiflu, looks like this medication is no longer working.
