In 1920 Chicago, this 19 year old was caught robbing the Police Commisioner's house (bad choice I think) and was shot dead on the spot. The mayor came to the morgue later in the day and posed with the corpse for the newspaper to show how efficient the Chicago police were.
Wish mayors would do that today, we would have an easier time finding pics!
Agreed. I love the "historic shots" and posing with a dead clothed body was not really that strange at that time. One has to wonder on the side if the commissioner may have had his own fetish! Would be wonderful if there were some hidden for years photos to turn up with the commissioner posing with the robber's naked body on the slab
I think often about the treasure troves of photos that have been destroyed by a shocked relative that didn't want to besmirch or admit the they had someone in the family with such interests or tastes...or the ones that still exist that one might find in a storage space or by a dumpster that someone threw out without even looking. WW I and WW II naked photos of corpses or the pieces marked and arranged and photos of physical exams from those same periods are some of my favorites. There are also, by the way some lovely nude photos of soldiers from the U.S. Civil War mostly of young guys with amputations with and without prosthesis. Two editions of the books were published, one with typical Victorian modesty has "fig leaves" imposed over the genitals in the printing. The other shows these young men in all their glory with their lovely young un-cut cocks!
