Whats our Russian members say about new crackdown on gays there?

I am very curious to know about the current 'situation' for gays in Russia lately and would like to hear from
our fellow members there. Was it something specific that happened recently? Has it been building up for
a while? Or what? Because being in the U.S. and the shit the Republican 'Christians' continue doing here to
strip gays of thier right to be an actual 'human being', and then the stuff going on in Uganda, etc - I'm starting
to get a little worried the direction the 'civilized' world is headed outside Europe!

So how do you Russian gay guys see all this, and what if anything can you do , or are you going to do
about it?

I'm sorry , but i just have to say something here -
I thought this subject would get at least a FEW concerned replies about the state of being gay in
this world getting worse and worse instead of better -- you know, people getting more intellegent in
just UNDERSTANDING WHAT SEX IS. But i guess not.
However, i see THERE WERE 7 PAGES of replies to '"Gee - I know what happens after your dead"!
Obviously, no one gives a shit about gay rights in the world - they just want to see pictures of dead guys!
Wow! That's really expanding the mind, isn't it!

I'm russian. And i really afraid my Russia turns into Iran. So, i'll never come out. My parents are crazy about Church and christian traditions. And they highly appreciate the trend to increase the role of church. On TV no news or tv-shows without church commentary. ALL media say that european and american peoples are genetically mutated to homos and we must decrease our contacts with them. Awful times.

I didnt know things in Russia had goten so bad. I think the problem with Russia is that it never transitioned to a full democracy, ratherm it became an oligarchy. I also think the russian elite can get over the fact Russia is no longer that relevant in the world. Dont take me wrong, I know Russia is still important because of its large oil reserves, but aside from that, it doesnt really have nuch to contribute to the global society.

Ironically both Russia and the United States have the same problem. Both countries have govermments that do not understand the global political and social order has changed. Both countries try to dominate rather than cooperate with the rest of the world. I also need to point it out that both countries have no interest in helping their own people. Both govermments only want to keep the status quo and keep the elite of both countries in power.

Our officials extends the idea that individuals are less valueble than state interests. From november Government make a black list of internet sites (against suicide, pedophilia, extrimism and drugs - some christian deputies are trying to add LGBT sites). I think internet will be censore like in china. All servers should be placed in Russia (youtube was twice banned but then allowed). Our new ideology is traditions and religion keeping and extending. Stalin is our hero now

Gays are now not protected by law. Clubs are recently atacced by homophobs and police is not hurying to investigate or protect. Many gays have been killed by date visitors, which know that gays can't get law help of police... (One man was fucked to death with bottle in police office)

That is really bad. Is there anything we can do to help? If you have any campaign group that we can support. I will try & make groups in UK aware such as Stonewall etc

It's only one way to help us. International relationship with Russia should be connected with the human rights here. Our government and officials save their money and posessions in USA and Europe. It will be painful for them, if Acts like Magnitsky Act (concerned to LGBT rights) will be accepted in Europe and USA. But Germany yesterday enlighted migration regime for Russian officials.

About me - i'm disabled man (nearly blind and cerebral problems) i will never meet my love, but i worry about other lgbt people in Russia!

So sorry to hear of the situation in Russia, lexxios. Religion always poisons everything. Unfortunately there is no end in sight of ridding humanity of the religion meme (a term coined by Richard Dawkins) when the religious are the most likely to have the most babies and childhood indoctrination into their superstitions will almost assure that the religion engine will exist until humanity annihilates itself over tribalism caused by religious dogma. Some statistics say that only about 10% of those brought up religious are able to break the bondage of their religious upbringing...
