In a medical examiner's morgue every day involves inspecting the vagina of a female who was murdered, raped, or sodomized. It is a bit of a treat for the morgue workers when an especially attractive woman comes in. Usually the ungloved middle finger is the examining tool of choice.

In September 2025, the bodies of Argentinian cousins Morena Verdi and Brenda del Castillo (both aged 20), and a teenager, Lara Gutierrez, were found buried in the yard of a house in a southern suburb of Buenos Aires, five days after they went missing.

The three were tortured and killed on a closed social media group of 45 users as a "warning" over an alleged drug theft, according to Buenos Aires Security Minister Javier Alonso. It was initially reported the livestream was transmitted over Instagram, but Alonso has since clarified it was an unspecified "different" platform.

Alonso added that during the livestream, a voice could be heard saying "this is what happens to those who steal drugs from me".

CCTV footage of them getting into a van with fake number plates enabled police to track them to the house where they were murdered.

Argentine police arrested seven suspects in the days following the crime - including the man suspected of digging the hole in which the women were buried and a man and his niece, who police say drove the car in which the victims were taken to the house.

Earlier this month, 20-year-old Tony Janzen Valverde Victoriano, nicknamed 'Little J', believed to operate a drug gang in the Buenos Aires neighbourhood of Zavaleta, and thought to have ordered the killings, was arrested on a motorway 70km south of Peru's capital, Lima, hidden in a van transporting fish.

In a separate operation, Peruvian police also detained a 28-year-old Argentine man, Matías Ozorio, who they say is Mr Valverde's right-hand man.

19-year-old with mental health issues stabbed his 47-year-old mother Nadia over nine times in Manaus, Brazil. The woman was attacked on her way home and passed away from her injuries.

Another woman called Dani was also attacked but her wounds were not fatal and she was taken to hospital for treatment.

Furious locals caught the killer took him to a wooded area where he got the ultimate punishment.

A front-line female crime boss for the Comando Vermelho (CV) known as "Penélope" and "Japinha" died Tuesday during a clash with security forces in Rio de Janeiro's North Zone in what was the largest and deadliest police raid on the crime infested part of the city. The "musa do crime" was a trusted figure who protected drug sale points.

Her body was found near a main community access point after hours of gunfire. Reports indicate "Penélope" resisted and opened fire on agents before being fatally shot in the head. She was found wearing camouflage and a tactical vest with rifle magazine compartments, reinforcing her active front-line role for the faction.

The death of "Penélope" occurred during the deadliest police operation in the state's history. The operation concluded with 64 fatalities, including four police officers, and 81 arrests.

The Palácio Guanabara stated the action involved 2,500 agents from the Civil Police, Military Police, and special units. The operation's objective was to halt the CV's territorial expansion and dismantle its logistical base.

Residents of the Grota, Fazendinha, and Vila Cruzeiro regions described a "night of terror" with detailed accounts of helicopters overhead and armored vehicles clearing paths, with gunfire and explosions lasting until dawn.

Despite the massive police presence, some criminals managed to flee via alternative routes. Agents discovered tunnels and camouflaged passages between structures used for coordinated escapes. The tactic recalled a similar maneuver seen during the 2010 invasion of Alemão.
