He was saying that the dead man went there to bathe. He didn't know how to swim but had gone there before, apparently the townsfolk wash themselves there. This time he had the misfortune to wind up in a deeper area and he drowned. Lucky for us at least.

Yeah it looks like she doesn't know a dead man when she sees one. Must be some poor backwards village. Or maybe she just wanted to cop a feel and used "trying to revive him" as an excuse. She doesn't seem very upset.

Very sad. He had just arrived in the town 18 days before. According to the witness he was washing his hair went down to rinse off and never surfaced. This is a very poor area, limited education and CPR is not well known.
