A young man dies in front of a firing squad . - A video restoration project - the original was really grotty- I wanted to see if I could see better what was going on here - this has been re-exposed a little and the sound cleaned up a bit too - it remains pretty grotty, but slightly better than the original I started with (I think)

You can see the key bits including the final headshot quite clearly - sadly, some parts had too little light on the film to be improved much.

Despite the poor quality - it is worth watching - but keep the screen size small.

Such a cold and calculated final head shot from the executioner, jon_b. Good job with the restoration. I wonder if the tools that the CSI uses can actually clear these videos up any better. I have a feeling it's all farfetched as they sometimes they can even get letterings from completely blurred pictures.

hey mx - yes I am sure that there are better tools available - My interest has always been photography - so my expertise lies there . vid production and editing are new to me - so I am a total amateur - also it may be my software (Pinnacle Studio) has tools hidden away that I do not know about - but its fun finding out

I have often thought of what goes through the mind of a guy just before the bullets hit. It is an interesting video and just wish the photography could be cleaned up even more.

Jon, when I play this vid there seem to be a large quantity of black pixelations. Maybe this is the result of your trying to clean up the video - I don't know. However, I can let you know the link for an extended version of this video - however, it is *.avi which I had some difficulty with initially - it is very dark. You may be able to do something with the video which is at the link:

Thanks for this sunray - I am downloading from the link now. I will have a look and see if it is any better than the one i had. The original was VERY grotty..and very dark - so its one of those situations where you have gains and losses.. you gain some visibility and can see slightly more clearly the execution ...but..as with photographs, you lose out on the worse pixelation, which was originally 'hidden' in the dark areas.

I will set some time aside next week to re-look at it and see if there is anything more can be done with it.....I have subsequently obtained access to better tools...so it will be interesting to re-visit this one using your link. Thanks again for your link sunray
