It seems to me that manties are a problem in Europe too. In general, guys in the U.S. are too self-conscious to be seen in such swimwear, unless they are engaged in a water sport. Very brief suits wouldn't be a problem ANYWHERE if they were worn solely by young men in perfect physical condition.
