A Sydney "ladies man" who was stabbed to death, possibly by a scorned lover, was found naked from the waist down inside his bedroom, where police believe the attack took place.
Morgan Huxley was murdered in the early hours of September 8 sometime between when he left his local pub on foot in Neutral Bay at 1.30am and when he was found shortly before 3am by his flatmate.
The flatmate, Jean Redmond, heard "gargling noises" coming from the 31-year-old's bedroom and, after entering, found him bleeding to death from 28 stab wounds to his upper body, the Daily Telegraph reports.
Mr Huxley was rushed to hospital but died soon afterwards.
Ms Redmond, an Irish-born physiotherapist, reportedly is so traumatised by the gruesome discovery that she has refused to return to the scene of the crime and has been unable to go back to work.
Detectives have trawled through hours of CCTV footage captured from cameras in the area, especially along Mr Huxley's walking route home, hoping to uncover a suspect.
Morgan Huxley's funeral is today.
They have also poured over text messages and call logs found on the small business owner's mobile phone, which was found at his apartment, as they try to piece together his complicated love life and recent liaisons.
Mr Huxley's personal computer was also seized as detectives investigate his recent personal and business dealings.
One line of inquiry is that Mr Huxley, who recently started his own pontoon building business, could have been murdered as the result of a business deal gone wrong.
Police have confirmed there was no forced entry into the apartment on the night of the murder, suggesting Mr Huxley knew his killer and possibly let him or her inside, the Telegraph reports.
They also confirmed he was found naked from the waist down, wearing just a T-shirt.
Police believe the brutal stabbing took place in Mr Huxley's bedroom and confirmed there was no evidence the attack happened anywhere else in the apartment.
His funeral will be held today.
