Thai police are speculating that a man found dead in his apartment in the beach resort city of Pattaya may have suffered from an acute medical problem which caused him to collapse.
The 38 was carrying a British passport and was found dead in his third-floor apartment on Monday afternoon. He had booked into the hotel a few days earlier.
His naked body was on the floor close to the entrance to the toilet. He had a clear and significant head injury, and blood stains were found in the bathroom and on the bed.
Police were unsure of the cause of death but speculated that after collapsing as a result of a medical condition, he had been able to recover. But the head injury, received in the fall, may have caused his death.
CCTV showed the man arriving at his room with a Thai woman about 3am. He left 20 minutes later with her, and after seeing her leave on a motorbike taxi he was seen to re-enter his apartment alone.
It was confirmed no-one else entered the apartment before his body was found by a cleaner at 12.30pm on Monday.
The body had been sent to the Police Forensic Institute in Bangkok for an autopsy and the British Embassy in Bangkok had been informed
