What do you think of NDE (near death experience)? One verified case happened to a woman who died during surgery. She saw her body on the table and knew what everyone was doing. Skeptics say it was her brain still processing sensory data even when she was dead. The interesting part of her experience was the fact that she was aware of a conversation her family was having in the waiting room on a different floor. She had not been in that room but she could describe the funishings and layout when she revived. She later asked her family about their conversation and they told her she was accurate word for word. If it wasn't her brain, then what part of her consciousness was experiencing this? If we are still conscious after death, then what is death? I guess death only frightens you if you think there's nothing after death. I'm not interested in religion's concept of "the afterlife" as a way to make people obedient in this life, but I AM interested in scientific verification of reality beyond the 5 senses. NDE shows something is going on after death. That's a cool concept to me, so I definitely am not afraid of death. I'm mainly afraid of leaving an ugly corpse because I got shot in the face or hit by a train. I think the best way to die is in your sleep or from O.D. a drug you get a major rush from. Then, if there's a "brave new world" after that, I'm ready for it. I'd rather assume there is than isn't. It seems illogical to think we have one pretty pathetic life, in most cases, and then it's lights out forever. The part of us that's not in the body or brain will need to be prepared for the moment we say goodbye to this world. I am.
