I know there has been some postings of Iraq casualties in previous threads, but I believe this is more complete and larger.

War is HELL! Why the fuck do Americans want their government to be the policeman for the world is beyond me! Many Americans live very sheltered lives I believe with how news is always sanitized from all the horror.

Let's be clear about this. Most Americans don't want their government to be the world's policeman. They think their government sticks it's nose where it doesn't belong at the cost of American lives and resources. Most American soldiers think their government gets involved where it shouldn't.

Americans support their soldiers. Soldiers do what their government tells them to whether or not they agree. The ugly truth is that American big business controls our elected officials in the Congress. American corporations like Northrup and General Electric make huge profits from war. Many energy companies are vested into foreign oil. They spend tremendous amounts of money on lobby groups which find ways to funnel it to our elected officials to buy votes. Big money tells the government what to do. The majority of Americans stand like deer in the headlights, shocked at what idiots our elected officials are.

The government doesn't like Americans to see the photos shown because it stirs resentment. The government prefers Americans to be stupid and complacent.
 
Snerd, I don't know what "most Americans" mean, but if public opinion counts, I believe when the Iraq war began, an astounding 80-90% or so were for it. Of course when things turned sour with the casualties, then the opinion polls took a dive. If anything, Americans are gullible to what is fed to them by media and government. So to exonerate the public from their complicity is probably unfair. Speaking of government prefering Americans to be stupid and complacent, it is just listening to what the public wants - stupid & ignorant politicians who pander to the religious right, with the likes of Cain, Perry, Romney, Palin and their ilk. I don't think most American soldiers think they shouldn't be involved in the wars - in reality, I think they are too gung-ho to be trigger happy after being trained to be killers. Is there an official poll somewhere that shows that American soldiers think otherwise? Just wondering. All in all, I think we have a very divided public with almost equal camps in the socially liberal and the religious conservatives. :thinking:

I hate the thought of 'our boys' getting maimed and mangled to satisfy the greed of big companies and politicians. I think the public in most western countries accept a 'just ' war, Iraq was too obviously a lie cooked up by the gutless, liar/murderer Blair and Bush at the behest of big business. Afghanistan is slightly different. But what I really hate is the way our troops are sent in with one or both hands tied behind their backs. Drench Afghanistan in fire and let God and the Devil sort 'em out. (After all, that's why the Good Lord invented Napalm!)
