The Siberian High is early this winter as temperatures that low are unusual in December even for Siberia.
45 have croaked from exposure, neatly 200 are in hospital with frost bites. Schools and kindergartens in worst affected areas remains closed for a second week.
The cold is spreading towards Western Europe but meteoroligst are unsure how far it will reach.
Last year the Siberian High was so large and strong it spread from Siberia all the way to Eastern Europe, Western Europe including Spain & the UK and it even covered portions of the Atlanic.
It was a phenomenal event.
Here are some pics of what life is like when it's -40'C outisde!
Unreal...temperatures in some regions of Russia remain -40'C during the day
Prepared...Woman collects wood to burn at her house
Arctic...somehow cars are still able to operate in these frigid conditions
Christmas mood...Russians won't let the cold spoil their Christmas
Struggling to keep warm...Vapour rises high into the skye above apartment buildings in Russia
Bussiness is brisk...
Winter wonderland...they say wooden houses are very warm & cosy in witner
Public transport...where are you headed to?
Evening...Woman crosses a frozen street in Russia
Fresh start...In the morning life goes on, people still go to work but schools are closed in some regions
Surreal....the sun shows ups but a dual thermometre says it's still a bone-chilling -31'C, colder than a morgue fridge
Meanwhile at the city's ice hole...Brave dude takes a dip, cock & balls doing OK
Arctic bath...A lady dips her snatch for refreshment
Business as usual....Heavy snow and arctic temperatures are affected the whole of Russia
Traffic...Authorities warned motorists not to travel and save fuel but people still prefer the comfort of their cars
Decorating trees with lights is popular in Russia...
A perfect ice skating rink has formed under Novosibirsk's Christmas tree
