Murder squad detectives have launched an investigation after a 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death.
Police were called to an address in Haslingden, Lancashire, at around 5.45am today where they found Declan Eastwood, who had suffered a number of stab wounds.
The North West Ambulance Service attended and the teenager, who was from the town, was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.
A post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out later.
Police said an investigation is under way and numerous enquiries are being carried out.
Detective Superintendent Neil Esseen said: ‘We are in the early stages of this investigation, but I have a team of detectives working to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident.
‘I would appeal to anybody who believes they have any information which could assist with this inquiry to contact police.’
Anybody with any information is asked to contact police on 08451 25 35 45 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
A 24-year-old man from Haslingden has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in police custody.
