I do knot where this happened, but they did not saw his mouth? I thought it was brutal/inhumane, but now I see a point.

No need to saw, even simple glue would have done an excellent job.
Sometimes the mouth of a young guy is deliberately left slightly open to make him look more natural...this also applies to kids & babies - mouths are deliberately left ajar.
If I were the one to prep him definately shutting his mouth I would have made him more beautiful.

Not a happy face in any of the pics , yes closing the mouth i think would have improved his demeaner / looks.
