Good because I avoided 'Sandy' where I live, but many of my co-workers lost their homes or had major damage.

That sucks, Sandy was a monster maybe most of your colleagues live in Staten Island?

We had a powerful earthquake in May 5.8

I am also grateful we still have a house.

I nearly passed out, it hit at 3.01 am I jumped up of bed in my undies and felt so dizzy I could puke with no effort.

Not Staten Island, but Long Beach and Howard Beach; as you can tell by those names, they are by the water

Oh it was unbelievable, our house is masonry but shook from side to side like cardboard box.

Never heard of Howard Beach; I only know Saten Island.

With relatives or friends; The ones with just water damage are living in the upstairs of their homes

39° Fahrenheit

Cold. It's 68 F here, unusually warm for beginning of December.

Not that I mind.
