I suppose when you think about it when a foreign object goes into a tightly packed space, it's gotta make room somehow (don't analyze that too much Alex), so it might just puff out the point of entry and the softest spot - the eyes. Or, it was one of those bullets that explode on impact. Fascinating from a forensics standpoint.
