Donald Trump Impeached After Historic Vote and Now Faces a Senate Trial

Donald Trump has become the third US president in history to be impeached by the House of Representatives, setting up a trial in the Senate that will decide whether he remains in office.

The House voted on two charges - that the president abused his power and that he had obstructed Congress.
Nearly all Democrats voted for the charges and every Republican against.

President Trump's Republicans control the Senate so it is highly unlikely he will be removed from power.
As voting took place in the House, Mr Trump was addressing a campaign rally in Battle Creek, Michigan.
 
So long as the Senate does it's job. If they acquit him, he'll be emboldened to do more. I wonder what they would do if it were a democrat president. The man was unqualified for the office in the first place. Our chief diplomat with no experience in diplomacy, Our Chief law enforcer with criminal and civil fraud, Sexual misconduct and even rape charges to his record. And the head of a government who has no experience with the law except as a defendant. This was the man the Republicans thought was the BEST they had to offer as a nominee? Oh and we still haven't seen his taxes.

LOL ... "if (the Senate) acquits him" ..... well, they are going to do just that!!

So get ready ... in a few weeks, by mid-February 2020 or so, Herr Trump will truly become THE DICTATOR,

Sadly I am pretty sure Arrowman is right - the Senate will vote on party lines, and even if a couple of Republicans have the integrity to vote on the evidence rather than follow the party line there is no way there will be the two-thirds majority that is needed to remove him from office.
But is he, will he become, THE DICTATOR, or the Governor of the 51st Oblast?

Hmm, do you not think his master Vlad will think he's getting a bit uppity? I would not want to cross nice Mr Putin like that - Novichok on the White House doors would be most unfortunate.
