Many in the United States have nasty diets. Lots eat foods that are sugary, full of salt, full of fat, greasy and mostly JUNK fast food.
:this isnt happening:this isnt happening:this isnt happening

As a result, the United States pays THE MOST for health care and yet has the LOWEST QUALITY health care of any major industrialized society on EARTH.

I eat chicken, venison, pork, some beef, tofu, brown rice, white rice, pasta, potatoes and vegetables I grow in the garden. I do use some processed foods. But, I tend add extra vegetables. I like fruit that is in season especial watermelon from my garden. I like junk food. But, I try not to eat too much of it. When I drink soda, it is always diet.

One of the problems with world nutrition is that as countries become more prosperous, the people want to eat more American crap. Once they can afford most food, they become junk food freaks because, just like in America they are ignorant and/or indifferent regarding the nutritional value of food. It's a cultural thing.

A good example of a food disaster is when white rice was first introduced to Asia. The people in many countries pretty much lived on rice. But, it was brown rice which has a lot of protein and nutrients. When the US introduced white rice, which is brown rice with the husk removed, whole populations developed malnutrition. The white rice was just starch without the nutrients which is in the husk. In the US, rice is eaten occasionally and with other foods. So it didn't matter that much. The people didn't want to go back to eating brown rice, so the US devised a way to add nutrients back to the rice , much like they do to bread. It just proves that entire populations of people would rather suffer malnutrition and disease than give up the junk food.

Interesting thread Arrow, thanks for posting.

Obesity is a big problem in Bulgaria as well, even children here seem to be getting fatter along with the adults!

People just love fizzy drinks and chocolate and our family is no exception.

I love homemade pizza but it's very fattening so we prepare it on special occassions only.

Kofte kebab is the most popular dish in Bulgaria along with green salad and shopska salad.

Thank you, Pie. It is a really appropriate topic for CDG as we have so many HOT guys here who have all kinds of different eating patterns from ALL over the world.
:green grin:

Yes, the nasty sugary, salty, fizzy beverage high-fat junk American diet has now spread world-wide. Here in the USA at least 33% of teens and young males are as now big as young fat sows.

IT is a terrible situation indeed.
:puke:

So many, especially young guys, flood into McDonald's and BurgerKing and chow down on MEGA sized orders of french fries and BigMacs or WHOOPER DELUXES.
:wtf sign:

Only a minority of guys try to stay fit here and eat a balanced diet with a variety of vegetables and fruits.
:very very sad:

THOSE DISHES ABOVE yous posted, Pie, look DELICIOUS. Especially the first image ... WaWOW!!
:great:

Are you good chef, Pie? I like to make fresh salads with cut up slices of chicken breast. I also love fat-free mayonaise chicken salad sandwiches with grapes in them and fresh tuna fish sandwiches with cucumber chunks.

I also love sliced tomato, cucumber and radish sandwiches with fat free mayonaise/lettuce and either an apple or seedless grapes for desert.

I used to have a terrible diet. Gaining weight was never an issue as I couldn't gain weight no matter what I did. As a diabetic I was stubborn and didn't eat like I should have. Because of that health issues came to be. Even after I got my sugars in check, I still ate terribly. Then came two medications with a history of weight gain. Guess what? I got fat. Now things are different. I eat healthy. I never eat anything white, never anything to drink other than water. I eat high vegetable and fruit diet with plenty of lean chicken and fish. And now that I am off one of the meds, I have started seeing a reduction in weight. Too bad I have no choice taking the other. I want my old body back.

Thanks for the links. Looks yummy, I've probably eaten them all, but as they say, everything in moderation. I have been the same adult weight without much variation. I guess I'm lucky that my satiety centers in my brain send strong messages that I've had enough. If I overeat at a feast one day, I literally won't be hungry the rest of the day and all of the next day even.

PS. Meatpie, that kofta looks yummy, is it a pic you took or is it just a stock photo?

Are you good chef, Pie?

I enjoy cooking and can make a variety of dishes, for example I can make you a kebab like the one I posted, I can also make pizza from start to finish.

Here is a video of me cooking at home last year:
