Baffled cyclists in a busy city centre are in a spin over what could be Britain’s shortest cycle lane.

Motorists have been left confused after workmen painted one of the shortest sets of yellow lines in Britain. At just 26 inches long, the lines can only just be covered by a car tyre.
Workmen were forced to work around parked vehicles as they painted the yellow markings on a street in Poole, Dorset, leaving car-sized gaps in the lines.
Motorists have been squeezing around them to avoid being ticketed but they have been warned the gaps will soon be filled in.

A ginger a cat got stuck up a tree in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire prompting a road closure involving seven firefighters, the police and RSPCA. Emergency services were called when the ginger and white cat had been marooned up the tree for more than 48 hours.
A fire engine and a hydraulic platform were sent to the scene in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, along with a police car and an RSPCA inspector for the rescue operation lasting two hours.
