Friends and family are mourning the death of University of Oregon tennis player Alex Rovello, after he died in a diving accident over the weekend.
According to school officials, Rovello drowned at Tamolitch Falls in the Willamette National Forest on Saturday after he failed to surface following a dive.
Rescue efforts were reportedly hampered by the depth of the Blue Pool and frigid cold temperatures in the water.
Rovello, a native of Portland, had a 21-8 match record this past season.
Officials announced Monday that the tennis player’s family was planning a memorial service for May 18th.
