December 2014 - Bangkok, Thailand. A 24-year-old Swedish longboarder was found dead at an abandoned skyscraper. He had hanged himself at one of the top floors. The abandoned skyscraper has gained notoriety as the “Ghost Tower.”
Despite being officially off-limits to the public, access reportedly can be gained by bribing security guards on the premises.
A local photographer had snuck past the guards and entered the building to take images of Bangkok's skyline from the top floor. When finished he could smell a foul odor on the 43rd floor on his way down. When investigating the odor he discovered the hanging body. The Swede had been missing for 15 days.
Sathorn Unique Tower is an unfinished skyscraper in the Thai capital city of Bangkok. Planned as a high-rise condominium complex, construction of the building was halted during the 1997 Asian financial crisis, when it was already about 80 percent complete.
Several superstitions are surrounding the building held by people in the nearby communities. Some believe the building is haunted, as the land upon which it sits is thought to be a former graveyard. Others believe the location of the building, whose shadow is cast upon the neighboring Wat Yan Nawa, to be inauspicious, resulting in its failed completion.
