More than 100 killed in crane collapse at Mecca mosque

At least 100 people were killed and 30 others injured after construction crane collapsed ontop of pilgrims inside Mecca's largest mosque, the Masjid al-Haram.

Mecca is preparing for the annual Muslim Hajj pilgrimage.

Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to arrive in the Saudi city from all over the world later this month.

Photos form the scene show dozens of corpses lying on the floor some with crushed heads and limbs.

The Masjid al-Haram surrounds Islam's holiest site, the Kaaba -- a shrine that worshipers visit during the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca. Approximately 2 million people a year make the pilgrimage.

First I don't like the concepts of Wahhabism which strikes me as a particularly backwards belief. It therefore follows that I have no sympathy for the ruling elite of Saudi. I might not go as far as accusing them of being directly responsible for 9/11 but accept that their malign influence did little to prevent it. And had it been that elite which had perished and been injured the I could have looked on with indifference, even perhaps agreed it was karma or the biter bit.
Snag is the guys who were killed were probably the general public who had no personal responsibility for what had happened. Always so I guess. Doubtless the ruling elite will say it happened because they were not strict enough or had not beheaded or flogged enough people who disagreed with them and their beliefs. Accordingly more will be punished or killed. And so the innocent will suffer twice over.

Funny, it says this company was started by binladens father Mohammed.

This is so comical, a company owned by the binladen family, caused a so called accident to the mosque. Karma will come back and haunt you. Those guys got what they deserved.
