His dead body was found at the side of a road with a bullet hole right in the middle of his forehead. Note the stippling (dots) caused by powder across the top part of his face - indicates a close range shot - but not a contact shot.
hey Rand - interesting question m8. It all depends ..on caliber ..on charge size/ power- a small bullet with small charge tends to punch a hole straight in with a burn mark round the edges. No powder because its all driven into the hole. A larger bullet or large charge punches a hole but the 'explosion' tears into the skin and can cause a 'star' shaped entrance wound - again powder is forced into the wound. Sometimes the hot gases burn the skin with the exact shape of the end of the gun.
