The excution of the murderer of an 11 year old boy

Seen these before but they are very good. In th eone picture it is clear the robe has been ripped at the back - was it to whip him or was it so the bullet would enter the skin without going through the robe?

I'm not sure. It looks like he was shot in the back instead of the head.
Maybe the executioner was concerned about the exact placement of the shot.
