Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on the cover of Rolling Stone

Rolling Stone magazine’s August cover story about the accused Boston Marathon bombers has caused quite a stir and some U.S. retail chains won’t stock the issue and subscriptions are being cancelled.

Well researched and written, the article is primarily an inquiry into how Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, went from being “a boy who glided through life, showing virtually no signs of anger, let alone radical political ideology or any kind of deeply felt religious beliefs” to being accused of a deadly act of terrorism.

Still on the cover he is just a little too rock-star!

Lawrence O'Donnell, the MSNBC host, who hails from Boston did a segment on his show the other night about this piece. Right after the bombing, he had interviewed the bomber's friends. One of the insightful comments in the article is from a friend named Sam who said Dzokar's brother must have brainwashed him. Care to guess how many times Sam had met the brother, Tamerlane? Zero is the right answer. So much for Sam's insight. Another quote is from a community college professor who never had Dzokar in a class! He said the brothers' reaction is typical of foreigners having bad interactions with federal policies! Really, like the policy that granted the family asylum, or was it the one that gave them food stamps or housing assistance? Mr. O'Donnell had invited the author to appear on his show, and Rolling Stone accepted on her behalf, but when the retailers and others refused to carry the issue, they cancelled. A far better cover would have been this madman's victims! Mr. O'Donnell ended his report with the following statement, "Read the Rolling Stone story from beginning to end and you will learn absolutely nothing you didn't already know!"
