Alban Luca Gabriel Ely died in a road accident in Montlieu-la-Garde (Charente-Maritime) during the night of August 15–16, 2026.

Circumstances
At approximately 4:25 a.m., a single vehicle (a Clio) left the road and struck a tree on the Route du Pas de Baudet (at the locality known as Chez Pinaud) in Montlieu-la-Garde. The vehicle wrapped around the tree.
Alban Ely was in the front passenger seat. He remained trapped inside the wreckage and was pronounced dead at the scene by the emergency medical team (SMUR) doctor. He was 22 years old according to the death certificate (news reports referred to a young man of around 21).
The other two occupants sustained serious injuries:

The driver (27 years old)
The rear passenger (21 years old), who was ejected from the vehicle

They were treated by the emergency medical team and transported—notably via the *Dragon 33* helicopter—to the Bordeaux hospital center. The exact circumstances leading to the vehicle leaving the road had not yet been specified in initial reports.
