People here in the US have taken the expression of their freedoms thing to the extreme and are pushing the boundaries to see just how far they can go before they break or snap back and smack them in the face. There is no reason whatsoever for things to gat as bad as they do unless they are being done on purpose and done so as to invoke a response that they can then attempt to use against the responders as being too strong or inappropriate. If people want to live in squalid tent cities for weeks to make some kind of point, so be it. But they must realize that the greater good of the masses outweighs their individual freedom of expression, especially when the conditions become a hazard, dangerous or verging on being out-of-control. When the occupation is installed on private property designed for public access and usage, the occupiers have known what the situation is from the start and are doing what they are, where they are, to get the owners, authorities and others riled up and poised to take action. Then when they are forced off of the private property because it does not belong to them nor did they have permission to occupy it in the first place, they can attempt to claim the authorities used hostile and excessive actions and unnecessary force to remove them; thus drawing public attention to their plight. All of this in an attempt to incite disgust, outrage and gain support for their ‘cause’. They have brought this down upon themselves. Social order and control must be maintained so as to ensure and protect the safety of the other participating members of society that have chosen not to occupy with them. People are free to express themselves and their opinions. In doing so, they must understand and realize that first and foremost, the safety of the public at large is the major consideration to those charged with maintaining order and stability within and amongst the masses. Anything seen as possibly disruptive to that process will be dealt with in whatever manner necessary so as to ‘neutralize’ the potential threat and harm it could and can do to the status quo and maintaining peace, order and control.
As far as on the international scene, the reaction of countries such as Iran is in direct response to our philosophy and ideology that we are the supreme whatever to the world; be it police force, instiller of democracy or something else. Not everyone agrees that the thoughts, beliefs and actions of the US are the way in which they should believe and act. Some do not appreciate the amount of participation and control that the US has in the affairs of other countries and they feel pressed or bullied. Thus we can expect, if we continue on our current path, to find countries such as Iran that are not afraid to undertake rebellious actions in order to assert their voice and take control of their own destiny. We may desire and like to see every country in the world installed with a democratic form of government, but it not our place to force that form of government on any country that does not want it nor is it our place to consider those countries as lesser or lower status than the Unites States. What works for one does not necessarily work for all. As long as the people under their jurisdictions are accepting and are not oppressed; then we have no business shaking things up. The days of colonialism are gone where the spread of a democratic form of government was seen as a way to save the savages of the colonies from themselves. Just as the different races and nationalities must come together and work as one, so too must the various forms of government; without inflicting one on the other. Otherwise, as we see, chaos can, does and will ensue.
