On March 2, 2019, two 33-year-old Finnish men A.J.H. and L.M.A. and their 31-year-old tuk tuk driver Y.S. were killed in a traffic accident in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

At approximately 2:30 am, the tuk tuk they were riding in was hit by a Lexus automobile. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 33-year-old H.V., had been drinking before the collision.

According to the police report, H.V. was driving on Sisowath Quay when he veered out of his lane and collided with the tuk tuk head-on.

The crash happened near a popular tourist spot in the riverside area.

A.J.H. and L.M.A. were both killed at the scene. The tuk tuk driver Y.S. was taken to the hospital but died from his injuries.

H.V. was taken into police custody for questioning.

Three days later, H.V. was charged with manslaughter by the investigating judge of the Phnom Penh municipal court.

An alcohol test showed that H.V. had an alcohol reading of 0.91 mg/ml. The Cambodian legal limit is 0.5 mg/ml.

The investigating judge ordered the public prosecutor to detain H.V. at PJ Prison until a trial can be arranged.
