SITE SAFETY - Viruses

Hi everyone,

I know that we get twitchy about virus infection picked up from websites; and indeed I know a number of us picked up a virus from this site which totally locked our computers. However, I thought that users might be interested in the site safety report, below. "We" do excellently.

Hi Meatpie, I'm pretty sure it wasn't a PM, but on refelction it could have come from a given link.

The Thread title dealing with the subject was POLICE WARNING VIRUS and was started about September 2012. I was afflicted on 26th January. I am lucky to have two computers so I could look up how to deal with the situation on the second one and then apply the fix to my first computer. At the time I wrote:

I used "Method 2: Restore Windows to a previous state using System Restore" and it has worked. Fortunately I have another computer in the house and so could read the instructions on one whilst I fixed the infected computer.

If you have only one computer, I would advise looking up the site now and printing off the instructions and keeping them to hand in case you get infected.

The instruction and the download were quite simple and I was up and running in about half-an-hour. I'm not good with computers and so any normal person should be able to do it in about 20 minutes. GOOD LUCK
