A French photographer who was shot and injured during a demonstration Friday in Tunisia that culminated in the ouster of autocratic leader Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali died of his injuries Sunday, his employers said.
Lucas Melbrouk Dolega, who was covering the Tunisian uprising for the European Pressphoto Agency epa, was seriously injured after police fired tear gas at thousands of demonstrators in Tunis.
One of the tear gas canisters struck the 32-year-old photographer in the head.
Human rights groups estimate that at least 66 people were killed in a month of protests and riots aimed at Ben Ali's regime.
An American photographer was also shot in the leg.
