Yes. Particularly long and particularly dead this time - that's Ok for some things (we all like a long dead ....), but not for cdg. Meatpie, when will we be back to normal?
And for the last couple iof days the site isn't recognising me, I'm having to enter my name and password every time - are we having technical problems?

Nice that the site has reopened for non elite members. But I think it is a little ingenuous to say all the regular users were there and posting. Sure all those who were elite members probably were but those of us who posted regularly but chose for whatever reason not to pay a subscription were excluded from so doing. And I think that Ricky was correct in implying that our absence adversely affects the site.
Still we are back. And tomorrow, at a more civilised hour, I shall enjoy seeing whether I can contribute to the various threads which have continued during my enforced absence.

You are right Lindier - we very much missed all the contributions from non-elite members. And there were very few posts even from the regulars who must be 'Elite' members. I know I virtualy stopped posting and searching for stuff - felt like I was just talking to myself when I posted, and when I'm searching it's as much for the site and the pleasure of sharing as just for myself - that just feels a bit sterile. I guess I'm just not quite that autistic!

Great to be back and thanks for the welcome.
I guess I am elderly, at least in years, although I hope my mind and attitude belie those chronological years. As someone once said you're as old as you feel and think. Which puts me in the mid forties on a good day.
Thanks for the explanation Meatpie. I'm grateful for the reason for the exclusion although you were under no obligation to provide it. I guess many other members will also be glad that it was a technology issue rather than an attempt to persuade us to join the elite members. To some extent I feel like Groucho Marx, I would never join a club that would let me join it.
However I think you're a little unkind to Rick. I remember that when DeathProof was at his worst Rick was one of the guys who leapt to my defence. He seems a nice guy and I am proud to consider him a good friend, both on site and also in the real world. And for what it's worth, even though we have only chatted briefly on line, I think you are also a fundamentally decent guy. And until and unless you prove me wrong I shall continue to respect you as such.
And glad that our posts with DeathProof, who has actually apologised for the one series of posts which was unacceptable and out of line and whose apology I have accepted, cause amusement on site. You're lucky in that you have some great and intelligent members as well as the occasional one who perhaps has problems needing to be addressed.

There is nothing wrong with being cunning except that it gets you nowhere and it gets predictable and boring after a time to people who know you like I do.

Have you seen Ex Machina movie?

Doesn't strike you as anything special at first...but it's about how computers can eventually outsmart human behaviour as there is a degree of predictability in every human especially when strong emotions are involved like sex and love.

Great movie that I thoroughly enjoyed. Recommended viewing.

There are lot of attention-seekers and trolls here but some really do stand out.

deathproof was making his first baby troll steps but he got crushed easily and turned soft which I didn't like.

Years ago when I was a teenager there were not that many forums on the internet and good trolling was considered art and some trolls could become so good and powerful they could destroy an online community that took years to build in seconds with a couple of posts.

Trolls on ogrish were notorious young people died and when police got involved the community started to disintegrate.
