World champion bodybuilder dies after breaking neck in backflip stunt

Sifiso Lungelo Thabete died a few days after landing on his head when his stunt went horribly wrong on camera at a contest on Saturday August 5.

The bodybuilder was trying to entertain crowds by performing his trademark move of a backflip while warming up in South Africa.
But the over-75kg world champion didn’t rotate his body far enough and landed on his head, snapping his neck.
