Chapter 115. Sonny
Sonny was a young boxer currently in training, his fight record currently stood a three wins, two knockouts and no loses.
When he wasn’t fighting the young boxer was training and this was what he currently did as he went for a cross country endurance run.
Unbeknown to Sonny A hunting party of Troglodytes searched the landscape for a human offering to the beast that stalked their kingdom. For decades the Troglodytes hidden city had been stalked by the giant Centipede that carried off its unsuspecting victims to devour. The beast attacked every few weeks and it was only by chance when a sole Troglodyte saw the creature devour a dead human and leave the kingdom alone that the Troglodytes knew what they had to do prevent an attack, numerous humans had been sacrificed to appease the beast and the hunting party was about to stumble upon Sonny.
Standing around a metre tall the Troglodytes were a primitive race of humans that lived in underground cities that were only accessible from their cave entrances
For centuries they had lived in fear of mankind but that had quickly changed when they realised the Giant Centipede liked the taste of human flesh. Men were now hunted by the Troglodytes who despite their small size had learnt how to snare their victims.
The Troglodytes had spotted Sonny as he ran they worked out the young man’s routine, after the young boxer paused for breath the Troglodytes went about setting a trap that would snare their next victim.
As Sonny set off to run again his foot set the trap off and he was taken by surprise as he was engulfed in a net. The Troglodytes burst from their hiding place over joyed that they had been successful in a hunt.
"What the fuck!! Hey guys release me please." The young boxer begged unsure as to whom or what had trapped him. He'd never seen a Troglodyte before was helpless as the hunt leader approached the net and bashed him on the head with a club, the blow knocked Sonny out and the Troglodytes wasted little time in dragging the net back to their kingdom.
The Troglodyte chieftain inspected the human sacrifice that was carefully removed from the net and stripped down to his underwear.
The tribe waited patiently for the bound young man to wake up and when he did they ensured that he knew who was in charge.
On waking up Sonny was about to speak when the Troglodyte chieftain stepped forward "Human you are in a Troglodyte city and we apologise for the inconvenience we have caused you. Please accept out apologises and one of my warriors will cut your bindings and release you."
Sonny was confused, why had he been caught and attacked. However now he was being released he didn’t mind and just wanted to get home. The chieftain signalled to a nearby warrior who approached Sonny and cut the ropes that tied his wrists together. "One of my warriors will light the way for you." The chieftain added as he allowed a Troglodyte warrior to step up and fire a flaming arrow into the distance. "We have lit the way for you, you are free to leave."
Sonny was surprised and apprehensive as he slowly walked towards the arrow. Was this a trap he thought or were the Troglodytes really letting him go? As he approached the arrow he turned to see that no one had followed him and knew he was now free to escape.
The Troglodytes however had other plans and were using their captive as part of a sport they played called the 'Run of the Arrow." The sport saw the captives allowed to reach a point of a flaming arrow and once there the Troglodytes released a barrage of arrows as the captive tried to run away. No one had successfully escaped the Troglodytes arrows.
Sonny ran for his life unaware that the small humanoids had primed their arrows and then fired. He didn’t hear the whizz of the arrows in the darkness and only became aware of the danger when the first arrow hit him in the back, stumbling forward Sonny didn’t stand a chance as arrow after arrow thundered into his flesh.
The Troglodyte chieftain and warriors walked down the cave corridor before finally coming across Sonny's body. He'd gotten quite far and thirteen of the twenty arrows had found their mark and pierced his body, most congregated in his torso but when had hit him in the back of his head and pierced his skull whilst a few others had struck his buttocks and the back of his thighs.
"Nice shooting." The chieftain exclaimed as he instructed his warriors to remove the body from the cave. The arrows were pulled from Sonny before ten warriors carried it away.
The young boxer’s body was placed a few feet from the entrance to the Troglodyte cave, ready for the Giant Centipede to stumble upon it.
Sonny was laid on his back, his sexy athletic body exposed ready to be eaten.
The Troglodyte warriors heard the strange clicking noise in the distance, the first signs that the Giant Centipede was nearby. The noise grew louder as the beast approached already on the lookout for a meal.
The Giant Centipede had no problems chasing and catching live food but it preferred to scavenge its food and preferred the easy life of devouring carrion then the dangers of live food.
The creature turned to enter the Troglodyte cave before stopping in its tracks and discovering Sonny's fresh corpse. The Centipede investigated the fresh meat before lifting itself up on its hind legs and diving into the warm flesh with its strong mandibles that easily stripped flesh from the body that was quickly devoured.
A group of Troglodyte warriors looked on as the creature tore into Sonny who had been consumed within an hour. Having eaten all it could the Giant Centipede scurried off as the Troglodytes celebrated another passing of a potential attack.
Two Troglodyte warriors were however tasked with grisly task of removing what was left of the young man, Sonny's remains were collected up and tossed into the nearby canyon. His bones now joining the many other victims that had failed the 'Run of the Arrow."
