Reason why religion is dangerous when those afflicted are in positions of power

:jawdrop: Wow! Just, wow! The earth is only about 9,000 years old?

At least in Europe, politicians generally keep quiet about their superstitious beliefs or they would be ridiculed. In the US, it's just the opposite. They are proud to advertise their beliefs and you can almost be assured they can be elected based on that alone.

I don't know how he can make such stupid and ignorant comments while claiming that he is a scientist. Evolution is backed up by evidence whereas his belief in creation is only backed up by the claim that a God dictated the scripture to ignorant men thousands of years ago. Religion will always slow down progress and social change. His words are unethical and dangerous.

Actually, according to Scriptures, it's not that old at all.
Earth was created starting on Sunday, October 23, 4004 BC (Bisshop Ussher's calculation), so 6000 is more like it.
Saying Earth is about 50% older than that sounds pretty heretical to me.

But of course, when God dictated the two different and conflicting creation stories (can't both be right!) in Genesis, she was only joking.
