The Australian Censorship (aka "classification" in their Totallitarian-like attempt to clothe their actions in inoffensive garb) Board released Otto Up With Dead People by same director Bruce La Bruce straight to DVD but ban his next film?????????
Shouldn't be surprised, the history of censorship in Australia is a continuing sorry tale of backward yobbos given the power of refusing to allow art or anything resembling free discourse (anything they don't understand) to flourish while pandering to narrow-minded and repressed sex fiends who punish everyone else for their self-flagellating, vile closeted neanderthal mentality.
These days banning anything is pointless, people will find it anyway. However, there is an election in Australia which always brings about backward-moving and stepping moralising to please the huddled, fearful non-existent mass politicians create in their desperation to maintain something approaching the appearance of social control for the breathless, desperate media.
Salo and Ken Park were the last famous victims of Australian censorship (sorry classification or its refusal), great promotion for the films though.
