Enrique Vasquez Contreras croaked yesterday at the hospital Teofilo Davila in Brazil.
Dude was shot four years ago and the bullet badly injured his spine. He has been in a wheelchair ever since, unable to provide for his family.
His wife divorced him leaving behind their six-year-old son.
Disabled and unemployed, Enrique was forced to sell candies at the local railway station.
Because he wasn't able to move his feet he often suffered from infections. At one point last year he was taken violently ill with severe leg infection but luckily doctors managed to save him from an amputation.
But as the global financial crisis hit the poorest firt, Enrique could no longer pay for his treatment.
People helped him with money and food but unfortunately it wasn't enough as he also had to take care of his son.
Yesterday Enrique gave up and will suffer no longer. He is survived by his son. No one knows the whereabouts of his wife.
