Jilted woman hangs self from Cubbon Park tree

A 21-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide on Saturday night after her boyfriend refused to marry her. She hanged herself from a tree inside Cubbon Park, using used her dupatta as a noose to end her life. The police learnt about her death on Sunday morning and arrested her boyfriend Naresh on the charges of abetment to suicide.
Santoshi Thapa, the deceased, was a resident of D’Souza Layout in Richmond Town and a native of Nepal, while Naresh is a resident of RT Nagar. According to preliminary investigation, Cubbon Park police said, Santoshi was found hanging to a tree near Siddalingaiah Circle. The incident came to light at around 6 am when morning walkers came to the park and noticed her hanging. They alerted police who rushed to the spot to collect evidence.
